Thanks for the compliments on the tie-dyed baby shirt :) I dyed several onesies and shirts before RB was born because I was frustrated with the limited offerings--why does everything have to be pink or blue? I love my tie-dyed baby clothes.
There were lots of yellows and greens before everyone knew the gender ahead of time! But as ultrasound technology improved, the baby market responded accordingly. It's been a real frustration for us, too! Not so much an issue for my son, who is now 10 and NEVER WORE CLOTHES WITH SPORTS MOTIFS! (Or tractors, either.)
GREAT idea!! Like other people said, I also didn't stick to blue to my sons. I love colorful clothes, and I adore aqua green, so they had many green outfits that my mom picked out and colorful ones whenever I could find them. Mostly because of gift, we weren't able to avoid the sport motifs that literacy-chic wrote about :)
Oh, don't get me started on the sports clothes for boys. At least girls clothes seem to have variety. It's all about sports, or "tools" of some kind. It's hard to find things that aren't. Target, sometimes, has cute stuff. But until you get into the 2T-ish area, it really is mostly blue and pink.
Now, the worst thing about it is that my kids look fabulous in blue or pink. (twins, boy/girl). He's blond, blue eyed and she's redheaded, greenish eyes. The colors look so nice on them, and she seems to be devloping a preference for pink things. At least it's mostly hot pink things. And I do my best to find other stuff, too.
Anyway. I have always wanted to try tie-dye stuff, but lack the skill. I bought some white silk years ago intending to do cool bellydancing costumes with tie-dyed colors, but it stayed white, and then I think it's in the basement now.
Cool work! :) Cute baby! Amazing that you're blogging already! For me, it took at least a week or so for the first blog post, and then they were sporadic, but I did have twins and not the help I needed. But the middle of the night breastfeedings are pretty good times for a little writing. I perched the laptop on the pillow while the kiddos did their thing. It kind of worked. Till all Hell broke loose with my milk supply-- but that's another story, and too long for a comment!!!
Beautiful baby, cool tie dye! If you're frustrated about the selection beyond pink or blue, keep in mind that 80% of that pink or blue is pink...there is so much less for boys! We specifically didn't announce we were having a son before he was born because I didn't want a closet full of sports/truck clothes. Too bad it never crossed my mind to make baby clothes. Oh, who am I kidding, I was barely making dinner back then, I doubt I would have been as enterprising as you even if it had occurred to me. Hope things are going well for all of you!
I am too great fan of tie-dyed baby shirts. I always like to see my baby in some colorful shirt and tie dyed really matches her and looks brighter. I have bought one of these kinds of shirt couple of months back and it really was quite comfortable and well suited for my baby.

Yes, I meant to comment on that, but forgot to. I love it! I get tired of pink and blue too. I like the yellows and greens they are now offering.

And, yes, I love the tie dye! (I would have mentioned it on the other entry, but everyone else seemed to beat me to it!) ;)
